Stringer boards were screwed to both halves to add stability and also to secure to the wall. Their smart and multinational design allows them to act as a desk by day, yet fold away under the bed frame at nighttime. I ripped some 1x2s out of a 2x12 for part of the construction of it was straight forward and i attached it to the bed with a 4' piano hinge. The bed is attractive and quite practical.
